I’ve read two books in two days, David Foenkinos ‘La délicatesse’ (2009) and Frédéric Beigbeder’s ‘L’amour dure trois ans’ (1997) (incidentally both books are adapted to the screen this month…).
‘La délicatesse’ has received many literary prizes in France and Beigbeder always does well. His ‘Roman francais’ (he signed my copy when I met him at the French Institute :) ) also got a prestigious prize.
This shows me that
1) I should probably look back in time for classics. The new good is pretty bad.
2) It sets the bar pretty low, which is great news for me.
